TATS Showcased in Magazine

 

This is a showcased article in the Savannah College of Art and Design Atlanta’s Fall Issue of SCAN. SCAD is one of the East Coast’s premier arts schools and is based in Atlanta as well as Savannah, Georgia.

Needles and Sins Blogged Us!

While the word "Tats" normally tempts my gag reflex, it is easily allayed with tattooed eye candy like those above. They're cast members in a new theater production about tattoos entitled Tats: The Experience. Writers Kat Reynolds and Colleen Hammond Whitmore have created a play, which includes music, dance, and puppetry, where the main characters are tattoos.

As a parent of two adult children, ages 23 and 25, I have already had the experience of asking the question: “Why did you get a tattoo where everyone can see it”? “Won’t you regret that?"

 

As I prepared to go see the play TATS:theexperience, I honestly believed I was going to see a play simply explaining a Millennial sub-culture fad to a Baby Boomer with only 2 ear piercings (one for each ear). I was wrong.

Our Producers Talk and Get Ink!

Who knew that within 10 minutes of the doors opening on a Southern football Saturday, that Timeless Tattoo's lobby would be full of customers awaiting their turn in a chair? I was not expecting such a long line, but quickly moved to the counter to book an appointment with my artist.

Kat Reynolds

Kat is the Artistic Director for Speak It! Productions, LLC whose main focus is to bridge gaps between all art forms. After graduating form The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and completing her B.A. at The University of Georgia, she worked as an actress and stage manager throughout the East coast. Eventually she transplanted herself in Atlanta, and in collaborations with EIM Dance, created an art based education for over one thousand elementary school students. Kat is currently looking forward to completing her Master's degree in Arts Administration at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta with an expected graduation date in 2011. During the summers, she serves as a lead director for the touring company CHW Productions, which educates college students about social issues through live performance. Colleen Hammond Whitmore

Over the last fifteen years, Colleen has given a voice to millions of college students across the country with her Life on Campus production. Others have found their right to be heard in her scripts: Words Forgotten,Bitter, and Bacon in the Closet. As a writer, director, producer, and entrepreneur she has found great success in and out of the arts. A Graduate of The State University of New York, Colleen has served on the non-profit boards of Gilda's Club and Dad's Garage Theatre Company. Expanding on her commitment to have all stories told, she has been personally involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Adopt-A-Grandparent and the Atlanta Woman's Arts Festival.
